Friday is The Cycladic Museum - one of my favourite museums in the world. As well as their permanent exhibitions of Cycladic and ancient Greek art, they are currently showing the unbelievable exhibition of The Lost World of Old Europe that we saw in Oxford ealrier this year! We loved it even more here, as the museum is much more intimate and quiet, and there was the addition of contemporaneous Greek neolithic art with fascinating connections made - could have spent all day, and almost did.
But then there was another exhibition of stone engravings by a Greek 20c artist I'd never heard of - Vasso Katraki
Giving Life to Stone - really powerful pieces some of which were reminiscent of Picasso in their stark vitality.
